Violence Victim Response Team (DVVRT)
Domestic violence affects all types of people.
All types of people can help, too.
The West Windsor Township Police Department offers victims of domestic violence the services of a regional Domestic Violence Victim Response Team. The members of this team are volunteers who serve the communities of West Windsor, Washington Township, East Windsor Township and Hightstown Borough. Members advise victims of services available while lending an understanding ear and unconditional support.
The services of the DVVRT are available to victims of domestic violence whose circumstances meet the requirements for team activation. DVVRT team members undergo extensive training, provided free to volunteers.
If you would like to help by becoming a DVVRT volunteer, criteria for membership include:
- 21 years of age or older
- Resident of, or employed in the Mercer County area
- Valid NJ drivers license
- Access to transportation
- No criminal history
- Willing and acailable for on-call duty (pager provided)
- Sensitivity to victim's feelings and concerns
- Desire to help others
- Willing and available to participate in team member training
